Chicago Blackhawks wins 4-0 against Florida Panthers with a brilliant shutout performance
The second game on Wednesday saw defending champions, Chicago Blackhawks, winning 4-0 against Florida Panthers at the United Center.
The game was important for both teams as Hawks looked to cement their position in the playoff’s cut while Panthers were looking to play spoilers as they are pretty much out of the playoff’s contention.
The game started with both teams constructing some decent plays but they were unable to find the back of the net. There were no goals during the course of the period as the teams went into the break with the scores level on 0-0.
The second period saw Panthers coming up with a few shots but they were unable to score while Hawks bagged the sole goal to get into the lead.
The final period saw Hawks scoring three more goals to win the game with an impressive 4-0 score.
Brent Seabrook of Hawks was named the star of the game as he scored a goal and came up with an important assist.
Both teams made a strong offensive start to the game which saw them creating several chances for themselves. Their passing and shooting at the start was strong and it looked as if they would score. However, this didn’t happen at the opening stages of the
game.
Both teams got better with the passage of time and it looked as if they would most definitely score a goal.
However, this didn’t happen and the period ended with the scores level on 0-0. During the course of the first period, Hawks made 12 shots on goal while Panthers made 8 shots on goal.
The second 20 minutes of play began with Panthers making a few shots on goal and Hawks were able to come up with some decent plays as well.
Things got better and better and eventually it was Hawks who scored in the 15th minute to get into the lead.
The goal was scored by Brent Seabrook from a powerful strike that went flying into the back of the net. The period didn’t see any further goals and ended with Hawks leading by 1-0 at the end.
The final period saw Hawks making a brilliant start to the game which saw them scoring in the very first minute through Viktor Stalberg’s well placed flick shot to double their lead.
Panthers came up with a couple of shots but it was Hawks who scored once again through Patrick Kane’s quick fired shot in the 13th minute.
Hawks scored the final goal of the period in the 18th minute through Tomas Kopecky’s well placed flick shot to win the game by 4-0 in the end.
Hawks made 7 shots on goal in the period while Panthers made 10 shots on goal.
