Chicago Blackhawks wins 5-3 against the St. Louis Blues
The second game of Monday was hosted by the St. Louis Blues as they were up against the Chicago Blackhawks at the Scottrade Arena. A large crowd was present to witness the game with both teams looking for a win so as to score vital points and make it into
the play-offs.
The Blues led at the end of the first period by two goals but the Hawks were able to step up their game scored four goals in the next period to get into the lead. The final period ended with both teams scoring a goal apiece. Jonathan Toews, centre of the
Hawks scored a goal and made an important assist and was named the star selection of the game.
Both the teams made a great start to the game. The teams were very strong offensively as they knew the importance of scoring the first goal. There were several and easy chances for both teams at the start of the game but they weren’t able to capitalize from
them.
However, after the first half of the period the Blues started to come up with some brilliant pieces of play that saw them scoring through Andy McDonald in the 16th minute during power play. The Blues kept in piling the pressure and scored once
again in the very next minute to double their lead. The goal was scored by Brad Boyes from a decent strike.
The period saw the Blues ending on a high note but they weren’t able to score any goals. The Blues led 2-0 as the teams went into the break making 15 goal attempts during the period while the Hawks made 9 goal attempts.
The Hawks dominated the second period at the start and unlike their counter parts scored in the third minute to cut the lead to a single goal. The goal was scored by Viktor Stalberg from a decent flick shot. The continuous pressure saw Dave Bolland scoring
from a simple tip in shot to level the scores for the Hawks.
Though the Blues got in with a few shots but they weren’t able to score any goals. On the other hand, the Hawks showed their productive capabilities as they scored in the 7th minute through Patrick Kane to get into the lead. The dominating performance
of the period continued and the Hawks doubled their advantage with a goal in the 13th minute scored by Jonathan Toews during power play.
The rest of the period saw the Blues making numerous goal attempts but they weren’t able to find the back of the net. The period ended with the Hawks leading 4-2. During the course of the period, the Hawks made 10 goal attempts while the Blues made 14 goal
attempts.
The final period wasn’t as productive as the previous two periods but some brilliant pieces of play were observed by the two sides. The Blues managed to score early in the 9th minute through Alex Pietrangelo from a powerful strike to trail by
a single goal.
However, the Hawks scored once again in the final minute to seal the game. The goal was scored by Marian Hossa from a decent strike as the game ended with the Hawks winning 5-3 in the end.
