Chicago Blackhawks wins 6-3 against San Jose Sharks in a heated match in the pursuit for playoffs
Another one of Monday’s games was played at the United Center as the home team, Chicago Blackhawks, played host to San Jose Sharks.
Sharks are in the third spot while Hawks are in the fourth spot in the Western Conference. Both teams are pretty much close to the teams below them and a win for either of the teams would be crucial in the running for the playoffs.
Sharks made a superb start as they scored the opening goal. Hawks managed to level the scores but Sharks scored once again.
The second period was a goals' fiesta where Hawks scored five goals compared to the one by Sharks.
The final 20 minutes of play didn’t see much and the period ended goalless. In the end, Hawks won the game 6-3.
Patrick Sharp was named the star of the game as he made four assists during the game.
Both teams were right on the attack as the period started. There were several shots on goal but it was Sharks who scored in the third minute to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Joe Pavelski from a powerful strike.
The period moved on and both teams got stronger and stronger on the offence with the passage of time.
Hawks managed to score and level the scores with Viktor Stalberg bagging the goal via a flick shot in the 13th minute.
Sharks were determined to score and they did this in the 19th minute with Joe Thornton scoring to put the Sharks back into the lead.
The period ended with Sharks leading 2-1. During the course of the period, Sharks made 10 shots on goal while Hawks made 11 shots on goal.
Hawks made a great start to the second which saw them coming up with attacks and some very strong pieces of play.
Hawks managed to level the scores with a power play goal in the fourth minute which was scored by Marian Hossa.
Hossa also scored the next goal in the 7th minute. Jonathan Toews scored in the very next minute to extend their lead.
Niklas Hjalmarsson scored for the Hawks in the 15th minute from a powerful strike to further strengthen the Hawks score.
Though Sharks scored in the 18th minute through Logan Couture, it was Hawks who bagged the final goal of the period in the same minute. The goal was scored by Patrick Kane's well placed flick shot.
The period ended with Hawks leading 6-3. During the period Hawks made 17 shots on goal while Sharks made 10 shots on goal.
The final period of the game saw Sharks on top as they fired shots on goal every now and then. They fired a total of 16 shots on goal with the Hawks making six goal attempts. Despite all this, no goal was scored as the period and the game ended with Hawks
winning 6-3.
