Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose misses two straight games due to back spasms - NBA Update
Chicago Bulls, one of the dominant teams in the league and the strongest contenders for the title along with Miami Heat form the Eastern Conference, have been off to a good start in the season so far.
However there is one thing that would be bothering them big time.
Derrick Rose, the reigning NBA MVP, has been having problems with his fitness and this has already cost Bulls, 7 games without him. The first five of them were due to a sprained toe and the latest two have been because of back
spasms.
His absence in the Bulls recent scrimmage against the Boston Celtics had a major role in the team’s loss, especially considering Rajon Rondo's brilliant numbers. Rose however is motivated to make a comeback as soon as possible
and he would be visiting a specialist later on Monday for this purpose.
After the Bulls loss against the Celtics, Rose was asked to shed some light on his latest fitness issue.
"It's been hurting the whole trip," Rose said. "I just played through it. It tended to get worse after every game. I was really worried about it. But I'm trying to stay positive. I don't know what the diagnosis is. I just know
my back is not right."
Rose also added he is not aware of what triggered the pain. He was fully fit after recovering from the sprained toe and played a handful of games after that before, all of a sudden, this new problem popped up.
"It just came from out of nowhere," Rose said. "That's the scary thing about it. ... I could barely walk (after New Orleans). It's killing me not being able to play, especially this game, or when I do play my minutes are definitely
down. Hopefully, I'll get treatments and it calms down. If not, I'll take my time."
Last time Rose had a similar problem was during his last year at the Simeon High School, however he recovered from that almost immediately. Rose is inarguably the Bulls best player and despite the injuries, he has looked solid
averaging 22 points, 7.8 assists and 3.4 boards at the moment.
Coach Tom Thibodeau and the rest of Bulls management need to treat him with extra care to ensure their talisman remains fit until the end of the season.
