Chicago Bulls are fast emerging as one of the powerhouses in the Eastern Conference
When the 2010-11 season started nobody in the league could have predicted that this would be the year when the once invincible Chicago Bulls will mount a resurgence. By as the season unraveled the NBA world witnessed the Bulls
knocking off one giant after another.
The man after their resurgence is the third year prodigy Derrick Rose. However, he is not the only reason behind their revival. The men from the windy city are flying high nowadays due to the charisma of Derrick Rose, powerhouse
Carlos Boozer and their exceptional forward Luol Deng. Currently, Chicago is standing second in the Eastern Conference with 46 wins and just 18 defeats during the season 2010-11.
Their excellent record has pushed them ahead of the star studded Miami Heat in the second spot and they are only one and a half games behind the big boys of the East, the Boston Celtics . In addition to that, they have a solid
home record of 28-4.
Although Rose always had the potential, this season saw him emerge as the very player, he promised to be in his Rookie Year. With time, he has developed the guts to lead the team through difficult times and he is one among the
best NBA point guards. Rose is averaging 20.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds over his last five games of this season.
If we would talk about Luol Deng, he is solid at defense and renowned for his jump shots. He is averaging 17.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game during the season.
The 53-year-old head coach of the Bulls Tom Thibodeau holds Deng in high stead, “He is the glue of the team.” “He does so many things for us. In my eyes, he is an all-league defender. In addition, he plays a complete game. He scores,
he rebounds, and he passes. Moreover, playing nicked up, you cannot say enough about him. He is a great leader.”
Last but not the least, Boozer is one among those basketball players, who can change the whole shape of the contest at any moment. Boozer along with Rose is developing is noticeable chemistry during this season. The duo has combined
for 43.4 points, 10.7 assists, and 12.8 rebounds in the last five matchups. Unfortunately, Boozer is now under day-to-day observation with a sprained left ankle.
Other then these three, the 25-year-old Taj Gibson had improved drastically for the Bulls. Coming off the bench, he is averaging 7.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season.
And just to top it off, last night Chicago won their 10th consecutive home contest of the season, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 94-76 at United Centre. It is their longest winning streak since the end of the 1998 season.
