Chicago Bulls clobber Golden State Warriors for second-straight win
The Chicago Bulls scored their second-straight win when they posted an emphatic victory over the Golden State Warriors, 120-90, on Thursday 11 November at the United Center in Chicago.
Derrick Rose had an outstanding night as he scored 22 points and dished out 13 assists for the Bulls, who came out firing on all cylinders, picking up from where they left off in their win
against the Denver Nuggets on 9 November.
“We started off aggressive,” said Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau. “We were shrinking the floor and moving our feet. I thought we did a better job of making them play in a crowd.”
Luol Deng also had an impressive game as he scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to go with six assists, while Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson had 17 and 14 points, respectively, for the Bulls,
who raced to a 34-20 lead at the end of the first period.
The Bulls never looked back and led by as much as 35 points, 91-56, after a put back from Gibson in the 3:28 mark of the third en route to a blowout win against the Warriors, who were coming
off a tough win on Wednesday 10 November against the New York Knicks.
“When you see a team come in on a back-to-back you've got to get up on offense and get down the court and push the ball,” said Rose. “It starts with the defense getting a lot of deflections,
guys rebound the ball good and push it. That's when we're dangerous.”
Stephen Curry paced the Warriors offence with his 17 points and six assists, while Monta Ellis led the team in scoring with his 24 points, but the Bulls clamped down on him all-game long,
making things difficult for the high-scoring guard.
Bulls guard Keith Bogans kept Ellis under control, and he admitted after the game that he was pressured because his team-mates expected that he would limit Ellis’ production.
“Monta is one of the best scorers in the league,” said Bogans, who had 14 points and six steals. “At practice they were killing me today, saying he might have 50 tonight. I went home and
got ready to play. I wanted to come in and make everything tough for him.”
Dorell Wright racked up 12 points and eight rebounds, while Vladimir Radmanovic and Dan Gadzuric had nine and eight points, respectively, but their lack of energy led to their third defeat
in their first nine games this season.
“You can see the juice is just not there,” said Warriors head coach Keith Smart said. “No question the Bulls had the upper hand in terms of the energy department.”
The Warriors played without David Lee, who is averaging 14.3 points and 11.3 rebounds this season, after sustaining a cut on his left elbow after hitting the mouth of Knicks forward and former
team-mate Wilson Chandler in their previous game.
