Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau believes Derrick Rose will find form – NBA Update
Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau has remarked that his star player Derrick Rose is on the mend and fans can expect the best from the player soon enough. Rose is just returning from his latest injury and in his previous outing with the Bulls he didn’t
look his usual explosive self.
The Chicago Bulls are leading the Miami Heat for the race of the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and home advantage throughout the playoffs. The Bulls and Miami are arguably two of the best teams in the NBA, so it isn’t a surprise that they find
themselves in this position.
What is surprising though is the fact that Chicago are in the pole position despite reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose being forced to miss large parts of the season with various injuries. His latest injury was the reason Rose had to hold back in his last outing,
but Tom believes the player will be back to for soon enough.
The coach compared Rose’s situation with that of veteran guard Richard Hamilton, who has suffered many setbacks since joining the Bulls at the start of the season. Both players are now getting back to fitness, and Tom is happy with the pace of their settling
in.
“He’s been out a long time,” coach Tom Thibodeau said according to Chicago Sun-Times. “He’s finding his way, like Rip [Hamilton] has finally gotten comfortable after going through the extended period off. Derrick is going through the same thing.”
Chicago do have some time off now, with the remaining games coming with a considerable gap in between, especially when compared to the hectic schedule of the shortened NBA season. However the playoffs are fast approaching as well now, so it would be better
for Chicago that Rose gets up to speed as quickly as possible.
Rose’s teammates aren’t worried about it though. Luol Deng, who has been a major part of the Bulls offense, especially in Derrick’s absence, believes that the point guard has matured and that will help him getting back to grips.
“A few years ago, he would’ve had a hard time being out there, knowing he’s got to hold back,” Deng said. “He’s matured so much that he still knows how to be effective even though he’s not 100 percent. Last game, even though he wasn’t attacking or anything,
he was still running the offense, running the team. He did a great job doing that.”
If Derrick can combine his new found maturity and patience on the court with the explosive, gravity defying moves we know he is capable of, then it will be hard for anyone to spot him in the playoffs. Chicago will be hoping he does.
