Chicago Bulls guard Kyle Korver talks about training, Europe and getting married – NBA News
Chicago Bulls bench player Kyle Korver has had a lot going on this summer. Like every other NBA player he has been involved in and worried about the NBA labour dispute and hoping for a quick resolution. Korver has also given a
thought to going abroad, he’s been working out to keep in shape, and in the meantime he went away and got married.
The guard who is renowned for his precision shooting was part of a Chicago Bulls side that emerged as a major force in the NBA last season. Behind new head coach Tom Thibodeau and league MVP Derrick Rose, the Bulls rose to prominence
in the Eastern Conference. They made it to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in around 15 years, where their run ended at the hands of the Miami Heat and their Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
Still, the Bulls had plenty of positives to take from the season and the whole team was looking forward to the next one, hoping to go one better this time around. However to Korver and his teammates’ disappointment, it seems that
the Bulls and the NBA will lose some valuable momentum in light of the lockout.
Kyle knows the situation looks bad in the labour dispute at present, with the NBA owners and players having just met once since the lockout began, now almost two months ago. He is still though hanging on to hope and doing his part
right; training hard and keeping in shape in case the season starts any time soon.
"I'm down there working out, trying to stay ready in case this season does start," Korver said. "I'm treating it like the season's going to start in a month, even though it doesn't look real good. Just getting ready in case it
does happen."
He has been going back and forth between Chicago and California for the purpose. The player has been working with Dave Vitel of Loyola University, former strength and conditioning coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves and with Marcus
Elliot at the P3 training facility in Santa Barbara.
Some time back he also took time out to get married in the city of Chicago.
"It's a big step in life, but I'm ready," he said. "I found the girl that I wanted to marry, so it's good."
He is hence taking it easy on the going abroad to play basketball front, something other NBA players have been lining up to do. The recently married Korver is more relaxed and says if he did head to Europe, it wouldn’t be for basketball.
"When I go to Europe, I want to sit on beaches and have amazing dinners and red wine," he said with a laugh. "I don't want to go there and play basketball."
