Chicago Bulls need a dynamic shooting guard to complete a Championship run – NBA Feature
In the last season, Chicago Bulls proved that they almost have all the ingredients to contend for the NBA title. However up against a formidable Miami Heat unit in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Bulls could handle the heat.
Given the weaknesses that were exposed last post season, the Bulls only need a dynamic shooting guard to complement Derrick Rose if they want to win the NBA title for the first time since the Michael Jordan Championship era.
During the last season, Chicago Bulls made some roster changes in order to add some strength on the perimeter by adding Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer and Keith Bogans. However the three additions only looked good on the paper as each
player failed to show the kind of a production that was expected from them.
In this crucial situation, Bulls had only one man to rely on, the young and gifted point guard Derrick Rose. Rose performed better than what was expected from him as the Bulls finished on the top in the Eastern Conference in the
regular season.
Derrick’s incredible domination continued in the play-offs as well which helped the team to clinch the Eastern Conference Finals berth. However, Derrick Rose’s brilliance proved insufficient against the three best players of NBA
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
To get over that disappointment and to again make a surge towards the championship, the Bulls need a second scoring option and that too on the weak shooting guard position. For that, Bulls can benefit from the free agency as good
shooting guards will be seen in the market soon.
NBA is going through the lockout at the moment and it is expected that some serious progress will be made by the end of the week to bring the action back on the court. Whenever the lockout is lifted, free agency will take place
promptly which was postponed on 1st of July upon the expiration of the previous Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
It would be in the best interest for Chicago Bulls to acquire a free agent shooting guard. Firstly, the Bulls won’t have to lose any player by signing someone from the free agency. Secondly, the salary cap, which has become rather
a critical issue for every NBA team since the lockout took its first breath, is not affected drastically by acquiring a free agent.
Another benefit of signing a player from the free agency is that the team chemistry won’t be affected. Chicago Bulls influential coach Tom Thibodeau worked really hard to make Bulls a one unit and Bulls strong chemistry was one
of the major reasons of their brilliant success in the last season. A free agent shooting guard will not only become a pivotal support for Derrick Rose, the team will complete all the elements to become the NBA champion in the upcoming season.
