Chicago Bulls not blaming the loss against Boston Celtics on Derrick Rose's absence - NBA Recap
Chicago Bulls are one of the elite teams in the league and they have proved it by maintaining a good win to loss ratio in the 20 away games- the most by any team so far in the shortened season.
They finished their recent 9 games tough road trip with a loss against the Boston Celtics, but still the overall record 6-3 suggests they did a pretty decent job.
Derrick Rose, their charismatic point guard, did not feature in two of these nine games and it is safe to say that their record could have been much better if Rose had taken part in those scrimmages.
Rose’s presence could especially have easily changed the outcome of the game against Celtics, as in a close loss, it was his opposite number Rajon Rondo, who stole the show with a brilliant tripple-double. Rondo was on fire in
that game and recorded his career’s ninth triple-double with 32 points, 15 assists and 10 boards.
However, Bulls have rubbished the notion that the loss was only due to Rose’s absence. They believe they have done a good job in their star’s absence and put up a good show against the Celtics as well.
"There are no excuses," Bulls Joakim Noah said. "We want to be a championship team. To be a championship team, 6-3 is OK. But it's not great. Obviously, we're not playing with our MVP. But there's definitely enough in this room
to win a game like this. I feel like we got outcompeted."
Bulls were not up to their best in the defensive department and that played a vital role in their loss.
"We did a bad job with our transition defence," Luol Deng, who scored only 10 points on a 3 of 12 shooting, said. "With our defence, when we set, we do a good job. Their fast break really hurt us."
Bulls rely massively on Derrick Rose to win them the games, however they have other talented players in the team like Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng who have carried the team on their shoulder off and on.
Now, the rough road trip is over and Bulls are back at their home and if there is one thing, the league has come to know about the Bulls ever since Rose has emerged, they are mighty tough to beat at home.
