Chicago Bulls rout the Miami Heat 103-82 in game-1 of the Eastern Conference Finals
On Sunday night, Miami Heat took on the Chicago Bulls for the game-1 of the Eastern Conference finals. As expected, both teams showed passion, hustle, and determination. However, the Chicago Bulls pulled away in the second half
of the game to script a 103-82 victory over the Miami Heat at the United Center.
On the night, Derrick Rose showed why he is an MVP. Playing against some of his greatest adversaries and arguably the best defense in the league, the third year guard erupted with a team-high 28 points and six assists in the victory.
Forward Luol Deng also played an effective game as he added 21 points, four steals, and seven rebounds for the Bulls. In addition to that, the 26-year-old forward also hit four 3-pointers. Carlos Boozer added 14 points and nine
rebounds while centre Joakim Noah had 14 rebounds for Chicago, who leads the best-of-seven series 1-0.
Chris Bosh led Miami in the defeat, finishing with a game-high 30 points and nine rebounds. Dwyane Wade chipped in with 18 while LeBron James was limited to 15 points and six rebounds.
Game Analysis
The Heat got off to a fast start as they went on a 6-2 run to take initial lead. The Bulls however struck back and managed to make it a two-point contest, 13-11, with 06:41 to go in the first quarter. Bosh was in his zone though
and scored nine of his 30 points in the first quarter as the Heat held a 23-20 lead after 12 minutes.
Miami stretched their lead to 38-33 in the first seven minutes of the second quarter. The Bulls however came back again with a 9-4 run in the next three minutes to take a lead. They maintained that till the very last seconds of
the half when LeBron James nailed a jumper to make it 48-all, heading into the locker room.
The third quarter proved to be the turning point of the game as the Bulls reeled off a 10-0 spurt midway, to outscore the Heat 24-15, and take a 72-63 lead into the final stanza.
Chicago then opened the fourth quarter with an 11-3 run to stretch their lead to 83-66. Miami played well in the next few minutes to cut the deficit to five, 95-80. The Bulls however opened up an 8-2 run in the last four minutes
of the game to seal the victory.
