Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose expresses his annoyance over hard fouls - again: NBA Update
Chicago Bulls All-Star point guard, Derrick Rose addressed the way he was being fouled in matches after the Bulls managed to hold on against the Detroit Pistons 100-94 in overtime. Rose was fouled hard by Charlie Villanueva while
driving to basket at the 4:31 mark in the fourth quarter.
Villanueva was hit with a flagrant-1 after the play and was also given a technical foul for arguing. However, Rose got pretty upset on the play as he came out bleeding from his nose after the play. He argued with Villanueva before
going out for treatment to his nose and played the rest of the game with a prominent band-aid on his nose.
After the match, Rose contemplated on the matter and was still very upset with the fact; several players try to guard him in the league. Rose has had a history of being hit with hard fouls throughout his career, possibly due to
the fact that he is too nice on the court.
“I was mad. I’m sick and tired of people trying to take cheap shots at me. Situations like that you have to say something. You got to, he didn’t even aim for the ball. At least go for the ball, I felt like he didn’t, and that’s
the reason why I got mad” – Rose said, after the game.
After the game, Rose appeared to be unsure about why he gets treated the way he does from the officials regarding tough calls and felt the need to speak out his case.
Even though the hard foul on Rose might have been the turning point of the matchup against the Pistons. With the Bulls trailing in the final seconds, injured Rose managed to hit from beyond the arc to send the game into overtime.
He finished the game with 24 points and 9 assists.
Bulls Coach Tom Thibodeau appeared to be satisfied with the explanation he got from the referees at that point. In the end his team managed to put the issue behind them as they went to take this one in overtime.
This was not the first time this season Rose has gone public over the matter of being hit with hard fouls. On January 20th in a win against the Washington Wizards, Rose was hit with a technical for arguing with the referees.
Rose was also fined $25,000 last month for making comments against the officials in a match against the New York Knicks.
Rose, who has averaged around 22 points per game in the season, has had a recent run of bad luck with various injuries. He has missed out on 23 games this season; however his team have done well; achieving the best record in the
league allowing him to take a rest completely.
