Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose says “Lockout is sad” - NBA Update
The NBA lockout has turned chronic. The first two weeks of the season have already been cancelled and if the latest talks on the issue fail, there is a possibility that the whole season might be cancelled.
One after the other, players are moving out of NBA temporarily by signing with foreign leagues. However there are some stars, who are still waiting for a definite development and have kept themselves busy in exhibition games and
brand endorsements. Derrick Rose, the star point guard of the Chicago Bulls and last season’s regular season MVP is on e such player.
Yesterday in presence of few hundred fans, he launched his new signature Adidas shoe which he had been marketing on social networking websites for last few days at the downtown footlocker. Derrick was overjoyed with the response
from his fans and added
“I’m blessed. I’m very blessed. For all of these people to come and follow everything I’ve been posting on Face book, it’s been a blessing to have this outcome. Words can’t explain how I feel right now”
As expected, he was later asked about his view on the lock out and on the prospect of cancelled NBA season. His reply to that question was just like that of a passionate player or a hardcore fan of the game.
“It’s sad. It’s very sad. But everybody knows it’s not our fault. If it was up to us, we’d be out there playing. The biggest thing is you just want to get out there and play. It’s going to hurt us”
Exhibition games featuring most of the NBA stars are being played in bulks over last months or so to keep the fans of NBA entertained but Derrick still thinks lockout should end so fans should get to see the real action. Rightly
so, because these exhibition games lack the intensity of a regular NBA game.
Instead of playing more exhibition games, he is planning to play some USO sponsored games in coming days. When asked about his schedule for next few weeks or months, he said
“We’re going to Honolulu and Guam for Hoops For Troops. We’re going to play these games to give back to the troops. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t even be able to play these games. That’s the way we look at it.”
At the moment, Derrick is busy working out in Los Angeles to get himself prepared for the upcoming season.
