Chicago Bulls stars Derrick Rose rehabbing well from ACL injury - NBA Update
Derrick Rose is recovering well from the surgery carried out to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee almost a month ago and more importantly he has been getting all the support from the fellow NBA players.
Rose’s elder brother Reggie Rose recently revealed that Derrick has been contacted by Mike Miller of the Miami Heat and Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers. They wished him the best showed their support. Reggie said that Derrick
is surprisingly in high spirits and sounded confident that he will make it through the rehabilitation successfully and quickly.
“He's actually doing great," said Reggie Rose. "He's going real good, which surprises me. I thought he was going to be beating himself up. I've seen him beat himself up over a game that wasn't his fault, just anything. He's such
a competitive guy. I just thought he was going to beat himself up because that's the way he is, like he let someone down”.
Derrick was nominated as the MVP in 2010-2011 season and heading into this year’s shortened season, a lot was expected of him.
Albeit fate has a different plan and Rose missed 24 regular season games due to turf toe, back spasm, groin and foot injuries. However Bulls still made it into the playoffs as the number one seeds from the Eastern Conference. In
the very 1st game against the Philadelphia 76ers however, catastrophe struck. With 80 seconds remaining in the game, Rose tore his ACL and was sidelined indefinitely. Bulls eventually lost the series 4-2.
What happened to Rose could have left any one devastated, but Rose’s brother said that Derrick is composed and focused.
“He’s staying focused and has a positive attitude. I think he's doing great because we as a family we're all around him. No one is looking at him like, 'Aww, you let us down.' It's more supportive than anything."
Rose underwent the surgery on May 12 and his family intends to fly him back to California for rehabilitation, if the doctors allow. Reggie further added that the surgery has limited Rose’s movements but he has been watching the
playoffs, especially the OKC games. Rose enjoys a long-time friendship with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant and is rooting for them to win it all.
