Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose is pleased with the ‘Derrick Rose Rule’ – NBA Update
The epic emergence of Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will not only help his team in reliving its legacy in the coming years, it will also reward exceptional NBA rookies from now onwards.
During the NBA labour dispute, one of the stipulations, the players argued to be in the tentative agreement was to award up to 30 percent of the team’s salary to the NBA newcomers who go on to be the Most valuable Player (MVP)
or make way into the All-NBA teams twice in their rookie contracts.
The purpose of introducing this rule is to recompense the elite players of the team like the 23-year-old Derrick Rose and that is why it is named as the Derrick Rose Rule.
Rose, who became the youngest player in the league’s history to clinch the MVP award in the last season, has expressed his jubilation at the ‘Derrick Rose Rule’ and hopes that more players will join him to earn the reward.
"It's unbelievable. The rule, I guess it fits me, for what I achieved at a young age and hopefully, there will be a couple more people like me." Derrick said.
Derrick had a fantastic last season, in which he guided Chicago Bulls to the best overall record in NBA regular season. He then marshalled the Bulls in the playoffs, but was given a rude awakening in the Eastern Conference Finals
against the mighty Miami Heat.
He maintained a low profile throughout the off season and is now back at his alma mater, Simeon Career Academy, to work out on his jumpers as he prepare for the upcoming season which is expected to start on Christmas night.
While some people are concerned about the perils of a shortened season (fitness level in jam packed schedule being the most pronounced), Rose believes that the season will be fine as the players have been working out on their own
to keep themselves in shape.
“I think it should be fine, knowing that since the lockout, the people in the league have really good mentors telling them to keep working out, people that’s behind them, people that’s with their team, always keeping them in shape–and
I think that people should knock off the rust within a couple of games and we’ll be back at it.” Derrick Rose said.
Chicago Bulls have a big game against Los Angeles Lakers on the first night of the regular season and against Kobe Bryant and Co, they cannot afford to be rusty.
