Chicago Bulls talisman Derrick Rose doesn’t like to dance in All-Star Games - NBA News
Derrick Rose was not light on his feet and stood aloof while LeBron James and Dwight Howard displayed their moves at the pre game introductions on Monday’s All-Star game.
The All-Star game is usually considered as a recreational event by most of the players and the fans but for Rose it’s just another game and he is d**n serious about his profession. His sceptics, mostly in Orlando at the moment,
think otherwise though and have labelled him as euphoric after the reigning MVP simply didn’t move.
Rose however, just doesn't consider the All-Star game as an adequate venue for dancing.
"I can dance," Rose said. "But there's a time and place for that and I don't think it was right, then and there. You just know that's me. If you would have saw me out there dancing, you would have been looking at me different.
I'm just me. I can't be anybody else. I think that's what people see."
Rose's greatest strength is his focus and his preference is always his franchise. He has reiterated time and again that he doesn’t like to be a part of pickup games, despite the fact he has been selected for 3 years in a row for
the All-Star event.
The star guard never participated in any of the pick-up and exhibition games during the NBA lockout, while almost all of his celebrated contemporaries were having a ball. The point guard however did accept that playing along with
some of the finest players in the league is a moment to cherish;
"Not at all," he said. "You know this is not my game at all. But I just love being out there. Just seeing guys, seeing what they do. And it's exciting when you're out there. Just seeing how guys are really professionals. They're
great at what they do; scoring the ball, rebounding, whatever they're doing. They're out there for a reason."
This is perhaps prudent from a player who acts as a centrepiece at the Bulls. There is a continual chance of being injured in these games and for Rose that is not an option. The guard has admitted that he just can’t shake off last
year’s loss in the Eastern Conference final at the hands of Miami Heat and this year he wants to make amends.
The problem is that there are just too many games being played and very less time to rest. Having missed only 6 games in the first three years of the career, Rose has already missed 10 this season and accepted that he is trying
to fight through the fatigue by becoming mentally strong.
