Chicago Cub Fans who do you think has been the MVP so far of the Chicago Cubs?

Also from all the new guys on the team from last year and this year who has been the best this season?

I agree that the pitching staff has been great this year, but you have to give some credit to Geo Soto for that.  He's been great on defense and offense, which is not an easy thing to do for a catcher.  Especially a rookie.  So I guess even with all the star power in this team, I'll say Soto.

I'd have to go with Dempster for MVP, and of the new guys, the best so far has been Reed Johnson (just because there haven't been many new guys and Harden hasn't been on the team long enough to evaluate.)

Wow that is a tough one to answer. Lee has been steady but not spectacular at the plate but great in the field. Soto has hit well and taken control of even the veteran pitchers like he was a HOF catcher. Zambrano, Dempster, Lilly, Marmol, Wood, Have all been Very tough for most of the season. But here are my top 3 with reason.

#3 Ramirez, our best clutch hitter and very good glove guy.

#2 Mark DeRosa so valuable because he can play 7 positions and play them all well if someone is hurt.

MVP # 1 Soriano. Heres why The Cubs were 25 and 22 with Soriano on the DL this year. They are 50 and 25 with him. That is a HUGE difference. Even though he is a below average fielder he has a way above average arm that guns down many runners. He also makes it very hard for pitchers to breeze through the bottom of the order when they know a 40+ homer guy waits at the top of the order.

Best new guy, Edmonds. Quite a bit of production from him for the major league salary.

i am a huge cubs fan and never miss watching them  i say it's got to be Soto  the catcher  for a rookie yr he should be both MVP  for all he as done

I am a huge cubs fan, and even though Dempster is my favorite player, I would have to say Soriano. I think with a team with as many wins as the cubs you should give it to an every day player. Although Soriano's stats aren't as impressive as many, they have done so much better with him than without him.

Ryan Dempster.  Zambrano gets paid big $ to do what he does.  It's expected of him.  It still makes him valuable, but you also have to look at value in terms of dollars.  And no one expected Dempster to have this kind of year.

I'm not a Cubs fan, but I would say their entire pitching staff, especially Zambrano.  He can pitch and hit.
