Chicago Cubs’ Bryan LaHair braces himself for All-Star Game – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs’ manager Dale Sveum on Monday, July 9 revealed that the news of Bryan LaHair’s selection for All-Star Game had come as a surprise for the player. LaHair, who had been struggling hard in the Minor Leagues for nine years, finally made it to Major League Baseball this year.
The 29-year-old player, in his very first year has performed exceptionally well. He is not only regular in the team since the start of the season, but also quite consistent. That consistency paid off and his patience throughout these years rewarded, when he got selected for the All-Star Game.
Much as he has shown consistency, the news of being an NL All-Star – representing the Chicago Cubs in the All-Star Game, was a surprise to him. That was something that the team manager frankly admitted on Monday.
"It kind of caught him off guard a little bit," Sveum said of LaHair. "That's what we live for in this game is one of those special moments."
Bryan LaHair, nonetheless, does not only have his focus for the big encounter. He certainly wants to take the team where it deserves. The Cubs, which have failed to win any title for over 90 years now, have the chance to perform better this time.
LaHair is optimistic as well. "We've got a really good team," LaHair said. "We've got tons of players that people want. That's not a bad thing for a team to have.”
With the able leadership available for the Cubs, from Theo Epstein to Dale Sveum in respective positions, the team has all the chances to do well in the ongoing season.
"I don't think there's one ounce of doubt in that clubhouse where the Cubs are headed. Everybody is on board with the manager. He's running the ship and everybody's accepting the decisions he makes."
Bryan LaHair is expected to blaze in the All-Star Game. But what remains fundamentally more important is to maintain the same consistency that he has exhibited throughout the season. If LaHair does that, it will be a worthy reward for the efforts he has made to make it to MLB.
