Chicago Cubs acquire Anthony Rizzo from San Diego Padres – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs have continued their surge towards perfection adding a new future prospect Anthony Rizzo to gain a consistent winning performance in the next Major League Baseball season.
The Cubs’ management has announced officially that Rizzo is coming into their 40-man roster from the San Diego Padres in a four player deal.
The details of the contract are yet to be revealed but experts believe that Rizzo’s contract will be short term as the Cubs are a little cautious to give him a long contract.
However, the arrival of Rizzo will increase the Cubs’ winning chances next year and his own consistent game will also be on the right tract to further excel in the upcoming years.
Lasts season, Rizzo played in the Padres’ roster with full energy displaying some phenomenal high spirited games. He managed to put in some tremendous performances for the Padres and proved to be quite productive for the team.
The Cubs’ executive vice-president and general manager Jed Hoyer, who is also a great fan of Anthony Rizzo, spoke to the media and described Rizzo’s game. Hoyer announcing Rizzo arrival in the Cubs roster said, “We believe Anthony has the potential to be
a middle-of-the-order run producer for the Cubs for a very long time. We feel what he's done at age 20 at Double A and age 21 at Triple A was remarkable.”
Looking at his stats, Rizzo proved his game last season as he went with a hitting average of .141 along with one home-run, 9 RBIs and .281 OBP in just 49 appearances. The next MLB season is approaching fast and with the arrival of a young talented player,
the Cubs will be a tough team to beat in the near future.
Looking at what he has achieved with Padres, there is a little doubt in his talent. The Cubs are hoping for great things from Rizzo. He will be looking to becoming an important part of the Cubs’ line-up as it will be interesting to see what type of an impact
he will have on the team’s performance during Spring Training and eventually the 2012 MLB regular season.
