Chicago Cubs beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-3 - MLB Update

The Chicago Cubs had another victory to celebrate on Monday, April 02, as they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks by 8-3. In what could be taken as the sheer preparedness and formidability of the Cubs, the team formed a unique and equally deadly combination to prevail.
The best feature of the Monday’s game was the ability of the Cubs to go against the fire-throwing Patrick Corbin of the Diamondbacks. Throughout the spring, the 22-year-old left hander had not given more than a run in just over 15 innings.
However, in Monday’s game, he was unable to overcome the resurgent Cubs hitters who went aggressively against him, scoring seven runs in just over 5 innings that he pitched.
Team manager Dusty Baker is looking forward to the new season with this redoubtable victory on Monday against a much stronger side.
"Spring training's long. We're all probably beat up now a little bit," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said. "You see a little bit of the energy dropping the last three or four days, not so much on the field, but in drills and stuff, and that's been going on for 100 years. Guys have just had enough. It's time to get started and get a whole `nother energy level built up."
Compared to the Corbin, Jay Jackson of the Chicago Cubs went for 4 innings, allowing 5 hits and giving 3 runs with one strikeout to his credit. Kerry Wood had a good spell out there without giving any run, having a strikeout in an inning that he pitched.
Cubs’ hitters, Darwin Barney, Reed Johnson, Starlin Castro scored two runs in his respective at-bats while Baker and Soto scored a run each  to take the lead up, helping them win the game.
The Cubs will now be going to the new season with renewed confidence with this victory over the rivals. On Thursday, April 05, when they will be facing the Washington Nationals in the Opening Day game, it will indeed be a treat to watch how the Cubs get on the rivals with their strength almost doubled with high-powered offence and defence.
