Chicago Cubs bracing for the outcome of 31st July Trade Deadline – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said on Monday, July 30, that the team was awaiting the 31st July scenario as the Trade Deadline for several players loomed. The Cubs are in a flux, anxiously seeing things unfold.
"I don't think it's ever easy, especially after you've heard your name mentioned," Sveum said. "I think it'll be a relief once [Monday's] game is over and [Tuesday] we get to 3 [p.m. CT] and see where we are then."
The biggest name for the trade is that of Ryan Dempster, the Cubs’ starter. Others that may follow are Paul Maholm, Geovany Soto and Reed Johnson. Atlanta Braves seem most interested currently in getting these players traded.
Paul Maholm, the Cubs’ starter has had a great record lately with his 5 consecutive wins in the six games, maintaining a wonderful ERA of 1.02.
Be that as it may, the entire buzz these days may have an element of slight concern for the Cubs. That is due largely to the fact that the Cubs have lately played very well as every player is positively contributing. In such a situation, which is highly
favourable for the Cubs, it would understandably be a little difficult to cope with the potential outfall of players’ trade.
Nonetheless, the team manager Dale Sveum understands this is inevitable, and part of the game. Dealing with it is the last choice available to the Cubs at the moment.
“We've played really well through it, there's no question about it," Sveum said. "But it's there, and it's all part of the game and we've all had to deal with it, especially if you're a veteran player and get to the status of free agency and contracts. We've
dealt with it pretty well."
Whatever happens will be perfectly clear by Tuesday, wherein the Trade Deadline of 3 [p.m. C] will have past.
Nonetheless, the Cubs will certainly be looking for a positive outcome of these developments at a time when the team has been faring very well in the division. If the players are to stay, the Cubs will certainly more emboldened, thereby allowing them enough
space to manoeuvre.
