Chicago Cubs coaching staff joins Dale Sveum – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs announced on Friday, December 16, that pitching coach Chris Bosio, first-base coach Dave McKay and bench coach Bench coach Jamie Quirk will formally join the newly hired manager Dale Sveum’s coaching staff.
The move is the culmination of the developments which the club witnessed recently. After the dismissal of Mike Quade, the former manager of the Chicago Cubs, the formation of the coaching staff may be interpreted as the complete overhaul of the team, a re-organisation
that will go a long way to set things in order for the club.
All the coaches, Bosio, McKay and Quirk will be part of hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo and other staff such as third base coach Pat Listach and bullpen coach Lester Strode. When it comes to Dale Sveum and his view on the coaching staff, he is all praise for
them.
"Chris is a very hard-working guy, no-nonsense-type guy who will get down and dirty with each and every pitcher to get the best out of them," Sveum said. "Most important, he's good at understanding how to get hitters out."
The sense of urgency exhibited now is understandable. As Spring Training draws near, the players have to undergo extensive training to prepare themselves for the upcoming season. This can be done once the coaching staff is complete and in the right shape.
"We hunkered down and spent about six hours in a room, and we just got a lot of things done and ironed out ... how we're going to run things," Sveum said.
Jaramillo has previously served for two years as the big league coach. This would mark the third in his career. Borzello is coming with no less than over one and half a decade’s experience while Bosio had himself played for over 16 years.
With such a combination of experienced and increasingly ambitious coaches, the team is all set to descend on the ballpark with ever more confidence and energy. It is only a matter of time before the Chicago Cubs is seen taking on their rivals in the next
season with renewed strength.
