Chicago Cubs coaching staff to meet the players this week – MLB News
As the Chicago Cubs’ newly hired manager Dale Sveum is scheduled to meet the players this week, the optimism and thrill within the camp is intensifying. This will be the first time since the coaching staff has formally assumed their charge, that the players,
managers and coaches are meeting.
The changes started sweeping the club after the arrival of Theo Epstein, the president of baseball operations and Jed Hoyer who was hired as the general manager of the club. If anything more exciting than these two inductions could come for the club, it
was the arrival of Dale Sveum.
Now as the players will get a propitious opportunity to see and meet him with the coaching staff, a sense of joyful anticipation has already descended upon the players. Randy Wells is one of the players whose excitement has been pretty high, especially after
the news of meeting Dale Sveum.
“After some of the stuff that went down last year, I think everybody's excited to see what's going on," Wells said. "I think his demeanor, from the short time I've spent with Dale, is going to be a welcome change. I think everybody being held accountable
will be a huge change for the Chicago Cubs."
Sveum was previously associated with the Milwaukee Brewers. While the talks of the new deal were in the offing, the Cubs beamed with exhilaration. Similarly, this sense of thrill is reciprocal as the coaches also await their task. The new pitching coach
Chris Bosio is one of them.
"I felt like we were pretty much on the same page a lot, which was refreshing," Bosio said. "We've got some very intelligent guys who we're working with. They know the lingo, they know the terminology, they know what they like.”
As the new season is nearing, the Chicago Cubs are readying themselves for a herculean task of putting things in order with some new style this time. Although they were unable to put a decent show the last time, losing over 90 games in the season, this year
as the fans expect, will be different.
