Chicago Cubs crush Minnesota Twins 8-2 – MLB Recap
The Chicago Cubs crushed the Minnesota Twins 8-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 10 at Target Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Despite with this win, the Cubs could not save the series as they Twins had already won it one day ago as they defeated them with two first games.
Coming into this, the Cubs came with extra aggression and kept the Twins under pressure throughout the game.
They played as one unit and never allowed their opponents to take control of the game.
Ryan Dempster pitched eight innings and received only four hits. Eight scoreless innings and six strikeouts, Dempster maintained his 2.31 ERA and earned a great win for the Cubs.
"Whether it's making a start, getting in the lineup or coming out of the 'pen, you just have to try and make the most of those opportunities, It was a good way for us to end a not-so-good road trip," Dempster said after the game with confidence.
The Cubs’ management was happy as their team is now feeling better and playing well from last couple of series.
"We scored some runs for him the second time in a row," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said. "That was good. He was pretty dominant again. It's been pretty much a phenomenal run he's had."
On the other hand, this defeat certainly annoyed the Twins’ management, who despite knowing the fact as their team is now on a right track, still not showing the accurate consistency in their results.
"Assortment of pitches, We couldn't even figure out what one of 'em was. Everybody kept asking." Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said for his team’s poor effort.
In the meanwhile, the Cubs’ who still are at bottom in the National League Central, also know as they need to develop a strong offensive strategy to play solid in the upcoming games. At the moment they are out from the post season race, but if they show
some optimism in their spirited efforts, they can certainly achieve a playoff spot in the current competition.
