Chicago Cubs defeat Boston Red Sox 3-0 – MLB Recap
The Chicago Cubs’ defeated the Boston Red Sox 3-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 15 at Wrigley Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
This is a very good sign for the Cubs who came into this game with big energy. Recently they are going through with difficult times with long losing streaks.
However, the Friday’s game showed that they have some energy left for next outings especially before mid season break.
The Cubs’ from start of the game kept the Red Sox under pressure and never gave them any chance to dominate them.
Starter Ryan Dempster played exceptionally well and proved to be one of the winning factors for the Cubs. He pitched well and remained calm on the mound for seven innings. He pitched his spell without conceding a score as he also struck-out three Red Sox’s batters.
Maintaining his 2.11 ERA, Dempster never allowed any opposing batter to play him easy. Despite receiving four hits, Dempster did not allow any run and certainly won the game for his team.
After the game, Dempster came out in the media and spoke to them and explained his brilliant outing as well as his other teammates’ brilliant contribution. He said with confidence, "I'm not naive, I'm not oblivious to what's going on. If I focus on that, I wouldn't be doing a very good job as a teammate, and I wouldn't be doing a very good job for myself if I wasn't focusing on what I need to do,"
On the other hand, the Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine looked much disappointed as his team showed no fighting spirit and lost bitterly in the end. He also gave an interview to some media personals as he told them about the things he noticed were not accurate during the very first game of their three-game matchup.
"I thought Dustin was gonna get him," Valentine said. "I'll take my chances any time, even though you'd rather not be down three in the ninth any time, but that's the guy to break him, the ball just hit off the end of the bat."
Some experts now believe that the way Cubs have shown their game on Friday is a very healthy sign for Chicago to bounce back into the competition with full force.
