Chicago Cubs demolish Milwaukee Brewers 8-0 – MLB Update
Chicago Cubs demolished Milwaukee Brewers 8-0 at the Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, April 12 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
With an impressive win over their arch rivals on Thursday night, the Cubs improved their win-loss record to 2-5. The Cubs will be feeling very confident about how they tackled some of the difficult situations during the contest.
For the Cubs, Matt Garza pitched a three hitter in just over eight innings to help his team avoid a four game series sweep. Striking out nine and walking two, Garza played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. After pitching 119 pitches, Garza
was removed from the mound only for Shawn Camp to end the game.
"I'm fine throwing it to the bases. It just slipped out," Garza stated in a post game interview. "All spring, I was dotting him in the chest."
"I asked Dempster if he could look at something and right away he said, 'Yeah. It looks like this,'" he recalled. "It's awesome to have a guy like that on the bench."
Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke was really impressed with what he saw from Garza. In a post game interview, he stated that Garza used his variations to great effect. He further added that if he continues to pitch with similar accuracy, he will be hard to beat.
Although the Cubs lost the series 3-1, they managed to restore some of the lost pride with a sole win over the Brewers. The Brewers dominated the Cubs in first three games of the series. With a comfortable 7-5 win in the opener, the Brewers made a strong
start to the four match series. They continued their domination in second game 7-4 of the series as well, crushing the Cubs in all departments of the game.
Emerging victorious in a thrilling third game, the Brewers took an impassable lead 3-0. Although the Brewers lost the fourth and final game, they will be very pleased with their overall effort.  It will be interesting to see if the Brewers can continue their
excellent form throughout this month to top the National League points table.
