Chicago Cubs get a new prospect in Brett Jackson – MLB Update
While Chicago Cubs are busy shaking up the front-office and empowering the roster, they have not overlooked the significance of top prospects for inducting in the team. Reports trickling on Wednesday, December 21, suggest Brett Jackson is the No. 1 prospect
for the club.
He made his appearance in the Double-A Tennessee in 2009 as a first-round pick. From there, he has never ceased to showing the remarkable talent he possesses as a powerful hitter. If nothing else, his 10 homers in the 67 games are the evidence of it. He
held a record of .256 in hitting, having then got his place in the Triple-A, something that has helped them go higher.
The Chicago Cubs are indeed feeling strong ever since the arrival of Theo Epstein, the club’s president of baseball operations. Jed Hoyer and Dale Sveum’s appointment as general manager and manager subsequently add to their strength.
Now, a top prospect in the face of Brett Jackson has come as a reassuring fact for a host of reasons. Considering the fact that the club lost more than 90 games this past season, it is the players alone that can help avoid that possibility again.
His ten more homers and six steals this year, especially with his average of .351 in August indicate the excellence of the player. “I had an interesting year as far as coming off an injury, making adjustments in the right places,” Jackson said. “I had a
tough month coming off dislocating my finger. When I got called up to Triple-A, I made the right adjustments to my swing, settling into a new atmosphere.”
He added and said, “I was really comfortable in Iowa, not that I was uncomfortable in Double-A, but the way it worked out with my finger healed, I [was ready for] the transition to the higher level. I took off from there.”
What remains to be seen now is that how the team capitalises on such prospects. On the other hand, it would be also interesting to see how Brett Jackson makes use of this opportunity. His success here will mark a new beginning of the player in the Major
League.
