Chicago Cubs hammered by Pittsburgh Pirates 4-10 – MLB Recap
The Chicago Cubs’ lost to Pittsburgh Pirates 4-10 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, May 27 at PNC Park, Pittsburgh in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
No one in the Cubs’ management know as how to overcome from their this one of the worst losing streaks which have recorded twelve consecutive defeats since Tuesday, May 14 when the 2011 World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals defeated them 7-6.
On the other hand, the Pittsburgh, with this particular win, has also won the series 3-0.
The Pirates from start to finish never allowed the Cubs to dominate them in any manner instead kept them under pressure and eventually gave them a bitter hammering of ten runs which proved the winning factor for them as well.
Centre fielder Andrew McCutchen played well for the Pirates as he remained his cool on his four at bats and earned two vital runs for his team.
"We've been there before, we know how it feels, so we knew if we were able to get on the board early, we pretty much would have them, Just because we've been there. When you're (struggling), and then you're down early, it kind of knocks the breath out of you." McCutchen said
The Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle was happy on his team’s mutual effort as he said, “I was well aware of the fact we didn't have (a three-run homer), They make the offensive game pick up dramatically when you can get three runs in one swipe. About time for us to get one of those."
On the other hand, the Cubs manager Dale Sveum looked much disappointed as he also said for his team’s result.
"We didn't score, again, off the starter, so that magnifies everything," said Sveum.
The Cubs’, who have suffered their twelfth loss, now are in deep trouble with their mere .319 winning percentage along with 15-32 win loss record.
Experts believe that the Cubs need to open up their defence with a more drastic pace however, if they did not bring any new change in upfront strategy, their continuous bad run will keep damaging them in the near future.
