Chicago Cubs lose eight after defeat by Houston Astros 1-2 – MLB Recap
The Houston Astros excelled again against the dire Chicago Cubs’ offence on Tuesday, May 22 at Minute Maid Park, Houston when they defeated them 2-1 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter in 2012 Major League Baseball season and took the series 2-0 with a game to spare on Wednesday.
The Cubs with this defeat lost eight consecutive games and the second against the Astros.
The Astros played a combined game and outclassed the Cubs in every aspect of the game giving them no chance to escape from the bitter humiliation.
"There's no doubt that he's probably been pressing a little bit and trying to do a few things and it was a big hit, To come through at that time of the game and get that hit is definitely something (good).” Houston manager Brad Mills said on his team’s combined effort and superb play.
Left fielder J.D. Martinez played well with his one homer and one RBI for the Astros.
"I was glad I was able to come through for the team tonight, I know they've been behind me and they've been pushing me." Martinez said with confidence.
The Cubs are currently facing one of the worst times in Majors as they still cannot find any way-out from this miserable losing streak which was started on Tuesday, May 15 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Their left fielder Alfonso Soriano admitted, "The more important thing is to get wins, I don't know what we have to do to win one game and hit more, because right now we are struggling."
Now Cubs are down at sixth position in the National League Central Division with the mere .349 win percentage. Their win loss 15-28 record is also too low to get back into competition.
On the other hand, the Astros with the slow, but steady performances, going in a right direction and improving with every game. They have recently improved their .300 win percentage to .465.
Their next again is against the Cubs and if they won it another time, not only their win percentage will improve, but their win-loss record will also suggest their late hard work.
