Chicago Cubs lose to Milwaukee Brewers 7-5 – MLB Update
Chicago Cubs lost to Milwaukee Brewers 7-5 at the Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois on April 9 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball. John Axford showed great composure as he pitched the Brewers to an important 7-5 win that improved their win-loss record to 2-2 on Monday night.
"Braun has been one of the best players in the big leagues for the last four years, so he's always catching some sort of razzing from fans," Axford said. "This year it's just going to be a little different."
Aramis Ramirez displayed some high quality hitting skills as he drove in two runs in his return to Wrigley Field. Ryan Braun also had a great time on the plate, making significant contribution with the bat.
The Brewers made an aggressive start to the contest. Handling the pressure absolutely brilliantly, the Brewers raced to a 4-0 lead at the end of eighth inning. At that point, it seemed as if the Brewers are going to cruise to an easy win but the Cubs had other ideas. Things got really interesting in the ninth inning as both team exchanged heavy blows.
"We're never gonna give up," Bryan LaHair said. "We're going to take every at-bat like it's our last."
"It was good for Rami, I know he's fired up," manager Ron Roenicke said. "The adrenaline is a little bit different when you come back home."
Shaun Marcum will be very pleased with the way he threw. Giving up just three runs in six solid innings, he also played a key role in deciding the outcome of the game. Rickie Weeks home run came at a crucial time as he helped the Brewers start the four game series on a winning note.
Brewers lost their first three game series to St. Louis Cardinals and they were hoping to get things back on track after dropping two of their previous three games. It will be interesting to see if the Brewers can continue their impressive run throughout the season to make it to the playoffs.
Cubs, on the other, should reconsider their strategies if they want to be successful in their upcoming regular season games.
