Chicago Cubs not ‘re-building but rather ‘building’ – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs’ newly hired manager Dale Sveum stated on Monday, February 13, that the club is not in a re-building phase, it is basically building. Envisioning a bright future, the confident team manager said that the plan for the Cubs right now is to
win.
"The plan is to win right now," new manager Dale Sveum said. "The long-term plan starts right now. We're not rebuilding; we're building."
The club underwent remarkable transformation as far as the front office was concerned during the past year. With the former manager Mike Quade dismissed, the club will be under the supervision of Dale Sveum this year, as he is expected to turn the tide for
the team.
Dale Sveum previously served the Milwaukee Brewers as their hitting coach, helping the team win big games. As Spring Training for the club kicks off on February 19, Sveum will have the first workout with the new team.
The projected batting order for the club right now has a list that includes names like David DeJesus, Darwin Barney, Starlin Castro, Bryan LaHair, Marlon Byrd and Alfonso Soriano. All of them, a look at their statistics tell, have a decent record.
All the same, when it comes to rotation, Ryan Dempster, Matt Garza, Paul Maholm, Chris Volstad and Travis Wood shall figure prominently in the list along with the bullpen which has Carlos Marmol, Kerry Wood, and James Russell in the list.
The aforementioned names have the capability to stun any observer with a tremendous performance to take the team to a winning position in the upcoming regular season.
"In baseball, anything can happen," the club’s president baseball operations Theo Epstein said. "We might not have the most talent in the division, but I know we're going to play hard, I know we have young players with upside and players entering their prime
years. When you have that, you can surprise a little bit."
The arguments for optimism and hopefulness aside, it will be the performance on any given day that will determine the strength of the team. Nonetheless, with the available names, the Chicago Cubs seem all poised to outshine any team.
