Chicago Cubs rout Texas Rangers 9-2 – MLB Recap
Chicago Cubs defeated the Texas Rangers 9-2 on Monday, May 6 at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The Cubs showed great resilience and won with great ease.
They played as one unit and did not allow the Rangers players to play their natural game. Cubs pitchers and at the same time batters certainly showed their natural attacking game and hammered the Rangers with great force.
Starter Scott Feldman pitched solid seven innings’ spell and allowed only two hits and struck out three on 2.70 ERA. His performance alone stood tall against the Rangers’ dire batting lineup. His started the game on a high note and ended his brilliant spell
confidently.
"I tried to just relax out there and everything, but obviously I know a lot of those guys and I've got a lot of respect for them, I had a great seven or eight years over there and made some good friends. When we're not playing against them I hope they do
good. But on a night like tonight, definitely want to try to get them out," Feldman said after the game and explained about his outing.
“I think I had a lot of pitches anyway, so I was going to need some first-pitch outs maybe." said Feldman, who had thrown 104.
Relief pitcher James Russell also showed his natural game while the Cubs closer Rafael Dolis pitched 1.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits.
"He was really, really good again, And against a really good offense, too," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said.
On the other hand, the Texas Rangers did not show their natural offensive game and lost bitterly in the end. Their experienced hitters and at the same time pitchers could not handle the Cubs’ consistent hammering.
Nick Tepesch pitched four innings and allowed six runs and six hits. He struck out four while his ERA rose to 4.50.
Relief pitcher Michael Kirkman pitched one inning and allowed one run and two hits. He struck out three while his ERA also rose to 6.59.
Overall it was really bad performance by the Texas Rangers as they just could not handle the extensive pressure and lost in the end.
