Chicago Cubs’ starting pitcher Ryan Dempster goes on to DL – MLB Update
The Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Ryan Dempster has been put on to 15-day disabled list due to soreness near his shoulder.
The Cubs’ initiated this decision just before Monday encounter with city rivals Chicago White Sox. Ryan was scheduled to pitch against the White Sox while as soon as he complained about his soreness near shoulder, the Cubs’ top management to give little
rest as well appropriate medical treatment.
One source whose has been quite close to Cubs’ management has reported unofficially that 14-year veteran and former Cincinnati Reds’ ace player has been playing since the start of the 2012 Major League Baseball season with similar soreness in his right shoulder.
"I was a little shocked because I didn't feel very good, I was able to get the outs. Oh, then I should've pitched through it, I'm not really worried about that. I'm more worried about trying to get healthy."   Dempster said.
The Cubs team doctors however, are quite sure that Dempster will recover soon.
Later President Theo Epstein said on Dempster’s condition.
"We want to nip this in the bud and make sure it doesn't turn into a strain or anything like that, But he knows his body really well. Our fans are great and really supportive, But if we want to have a sort of dominating home-field advantage, then we need
to play well and earn it. It's  on us."
This is also important to mention here that Dempster is about to be traded before July 31. The team had already decided in this ongoing season that he will be making his way to another franchise for various reasons.
First the Cubs’ need cash to bring some young batting prospects. They are currently going through a tough period and with consistent defeats in recent games, the Cubs are very much in need to put their money in right areas.
In the meanwhile, Dempster, whose next franchise is still unknown, is quite confident on his future. He has been around in the MLB for last 14 years and knows his skills quite well.
His career ERA of 4.33 along with 115-119 win-loss, 1831 strikeouts and 1.43 WHIP also suggests that he is a superb player and his future will give him more success.
