Chicago Cubs take on the St. Louis Cardinals –MLB News
The Chicago Cubs will play one of the most anticipated games of the season on Friday, April 13, when they will face the St. Louis Cardinals. Part of the reason why the game holds such immense importance is the fact that it is being played at Busch Stadium,
the home opener for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The current World Series champion, the St. Louis Cardinals, is playing extraordinarily well since the start of the 2012 season. What makes the game more intriguing for the Cubs is the prospect of having to face Adam Wainwright.
The proficient and stout starter Wainwright had missed the last season due to injury on his elbow and subsequent Tommy John surgery. Facing Wainwright is Jeff Samardzija, one of the best starters representing the Chicago Cubs.
Much as the game is eagerly awaited, the Chicago Cubs team manager has his observations to make about the celebration that the St. Louis Cardinals will have on Friday as the World Series champion of 2011.
"There's got to be one team every year that wins it and gets the rings and raises the banner. You give everybody the respect they deserve.”
Among other things, the excitement of attending a ceremony that pertains to the best team of the world has its own pleasure.
"They're the best in the world right now," said Chicago manager Dale Sveum. "They're the world champions. You're going to be out there, you're going to have to watch [the ceremony] but, hey, you want other people watching you do it someday, too. It's a fun
day, no question about it. I've been able to do it twice and it's very, very fun."
While it is excitement that characterizes the atmosphere at Busch Stadium, the Cubs will have the challenge of standing up to the Cardinals and resisting the team. Friday’s game will have every flavour that makes a game interesting and worth watching. Who
gains the upper hand is something that cannot be predicted at this point in time. It will therefore be with deep interest that the fans will follow the game involving the two teams.
