Chicago Cubs thrash Milwaukee Brewers 10-0 – MLB Recap
The Chicago Cubs thrashed the Milwaukee Brewers 10-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 5 at Miller Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Ryan Dempster played perfect for the Cubs as they swept the Brewers with fine team effort.
This game was also very important for the Cubs as they were coming into the series suffering four straight defeats from the San Francisco Giants.
As the game progressed, the Cubs starter started to show his brilliance on the mound. He pitched seven scoreless innings and proved the winning factor for the Cubs.
He received only three hits and struck out three Brewers batters with his extraordinary pitching. He marinated his 2.59 ERA and earned yet another win for the Cubs.
"Yeah, I was thinking about a perfect game for sure," Dempster said. "I'm not an idiot. I know that I hadn't had anybody on base. But it's the second-best thing: a win right here."
"It felt nice," Dempster said. "It's been a while. But it feels nice because we're sitting here, we're on a huge road losing streak and everything. It was nice to go out there and win a game like that, and see everybody, the guys played great on defense
and hit the ball and they made all the plays and scored a bunch of runs."
On the other hand, the Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo was hammered with five runs along with six hits and five earned runs. He was also smashed with two homers which made his 4.50 ERA much ordinary.
Not only the Brewers’ starter seemed inaccurate but their relief pitcher Manny Parra and closer Juan Perez also looked averaged on the mound.
These three combined went for total 10 runs and could not save the game for the Brewers.
Despite defeat in this particular game, the Brewers are still ahead one place from the Cubs with 24-31 win-loss along with .436 winning percentage.
The Cubs’ on the other hand need some more games to win in order to stay alive in the competition for post season qualification.
