Chicago Cubs want Brett Jackson to make necessary adjustments – MLB News
Chicago Cubs' manager Dale Sveum has hoped that Brett Jackson will make necessary adjustments in the offseason to make a stronger appearance on the plate in 2013. Like Anthony Rizzo, who did not have a good season as a whole last year when he was part of San Diego Padres, having held .141 average, Jackson struggled as well.
Coming to the Chicago Cubs this year, Jackson played a total of 43 games, having held a batting average of .179. That is not quite up to the mark, with only four home-runs and nine RBIs.
Cubs' manager Dale Sveum had his perspective to share on the entire development.
"It's up to them to make the adjustments and learn from their experience in the big leagues and that's a big reason why we bring them to the big leagues, so they can have an understanding of how big league pitching is different," Cubs' manager Dale Sveum said Tuesday.
Dale Sveum emphasised that bringing the players in the Major League is to show them that experience here is different when it comes to the calibre of pitching.
He said, "The development in Triple-A was average and too many strikeouts. You bring him to the big leagues to show him this is a whole 'nother caliber of pitching that you have to be able to make adjustments during the winter to be able to compete at this level."
Team manager also made reference to the areas where Jackson needs to make improvement. He stated that the player has to revamp his swing and lower half. Drastic changes, in Sveum’s view, can enable Jackson to improve his game and be in line with great players.
Cubs have so far lost 100 games this season. Being in the last series of the year, the Cubs will like to end it on a positive note. Important for Jackson, in light of the suggestions made by the team manager, is to make changes so as to be the active and prolific part of the Cubs.
It will be interesting to see how this player makes adjustment to occupy his place in the line-up that he deserves.
