Chicago Deepdish Pizza lovers.....What are some ridiculously, crazy ingredients I can add to this recipe?

I'm a proud American currently in a foriegn land. I'm about to embark on one of my greatest passions left in the back-burner for years......attempt to perfect Chicago's Deepdish Pizza.

What ingredients would you like to add to this classic recipe without overloading or ruining the taste with too much?

  1. If you are in Asia

    China

    kung pao chicken sauce with chicken meat

    leeks, ground sichuan pepper

    shitake mushroom

    roasted peanuts

    fresh red chili ring

    salt baked almond (optional)

    green bell pepper slices

    direction :

    1) marinate chicken dices with a bit of corn starch, soy sauce, sugar, rice wine, then stir fry the meat with peanut oil, garlic slices, shitake mushroom, sichuan pepper and red chili over medium heat till half cooked

    2) prepare pizza as usual but with tomato paste added on top, then sprinkle chicken meat, mushroom, leek evenly on the pizza and put into the oven.

    3) when the pizza is almost done, sprinkle green bell pepper slices, red chili slices, roasted peanuts and almond slices on top and bake for another few minutes, sprinkle toasted sesame seed and a few drops of chili oil on top before serving.

    Japan

    Natto

    deep fried hard tofu cubes

    green bell pepper, red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper

    extra cheese as toppings

    Thai

    Green curry chicken sauce

    Thai basil

    pineapple

    onion slices

    eggplant slices

    crispy deep fried shallots (as toppings)

    India

    Curry chicken sauce

    crispy fried potato cubes

    grilled shrimps

    onion slices

    fresh whipped sour cream / crispy deep fried shallots (as topping)

    Direction: prepare chicken curry paste with minced chicken meat, curry herbs, chopped onions then spread on pizza dough, put grilled shrimps, potato cubes, onion slices as topping and bake for 15 minutes.

    Spoon whipped sour cream on hot pizza, sprinkle sprispy deep fried shallots and serve hot.

    Crazy enough???

    As for classic.. lol.. add some roasted peanuts or toasted almond slices for nutty flavor and chili oil to spice up your pizza may be a good idea!

  2. Since you didn't say where you are, I'll have to make some suggestions.  In Mexico and Central America smoked eel is quite popular.  I've had various fruits like pineapple, papaya and mango...in my opinion, a Chicago Deep Dish is great with just cheese.

  3. I cook pizza's with any of the following on them and they are really great.  Chicken, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, sausage, etc.  

    Don't overlook

    1)  the possibility of using different cheeses

    2)  spices on top of the sauce

    what foreign land are you in might help determine some really great ingredients which you might use!

  4. You cannot skip anchovies or a really good sausage.

  5. pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onions and of course extra cheese
