Best answer 10 points! We are planning a weekend in Chicago sometime in October. Anybody have any favorite hotels there they would like to recommend? Also, we are planning on going with another family (moms and kids trip, so in total, 6 people). There will be six of us..separate hotel rooms are good, but if anyone has ever stayed in adjoining rooms in a hotel in Chicago..please share! Thanks so much!

  1. You didnt mention how much you wanted to spend. But location , location , location.. Heres some suggestions .. the rooms are pricey.

    Hotel InterContinential on Michigan Avenue

The Drake Hotel.. ( like in mission impossible the movie.. Where the bible came from)

The Hilton Hotel on Michigan Ave

Theres a Best Western on south michigan ave.. ( budget friendly)

Hard Rock Cafe Hotel on Michigan ave.

and thousands of others.. these are in the heart of chicago and close to everything and transportation out to the museums and big tourist areas.

    hope that helps you.

For prices check AAA Motor club Hotel motel rates.

    Enjoy its a great city!

  2. You really need to state your budget.  Chicago has some great hotels in central locations, but they are $$$$$.

  3. The Talbott Hotel is my absolute Favorite. Small Boutique, beautiful rooms and lobby. Very people friendly. Amazing bathrooms,. excellent location just off Michigan  Ave. Eco friendly. The best Italian restaurant in the hotel.Great flat screen TVs

    Chicago's awesome, by the way.

  5. If you have a high budget go with the Four Seasons. They will basically cater to your every need plus you are close to shopping and dining downtown.

A little cheaper in the W hotel (one in business district and one near lakefront).  I would choose lakefront because it is closer to shopping and dining if you don't want to walk far.  But the other one is near the Sears Tower and a medium walk to things.  Intercontental is nice but they have smaller rooms but a great tiled pool inside.  I forget but half of the building is different (1 side has smaller, older rooms and the other side is more modern...call to ask).  Swissotel is also nice and it pretty close to shopping on Michigan Ave.  For a bit cheaper the Hilton Towers on S. Michigan Ave is a really nice place to stay and close to the park.

  6. The Drake.

  7. Holiday Inn and the Sheraton are my favorite hotels.

  8. The Essex hotel on South Michigan Avenue has been mostly renovated though they are working on the heat/air systems I believe.  The Essex is well located for the museams, the parks, transportation, food.  Best of all?  The Pool!  The Essex has a very nice partially covered pool with a great view of Grant Park across the street.  The whole south loop area where the Essex sits is not the skid row it used to be at all!  As for the air, it is either on heat or cool, is a touch loud but my family (I'm a mom) slept fine and had a ball.  Another tip for Chicago, is to skip the Hancock and maybe the Sears tower observatories and instead go to the Signature lounge on the 96th floor of the Hancock.  It has a family friendly room as well as a more adult but well behaved bar, the view is astonishing especially at night and with no admission charge you can afford snacks and a drink.  One can go casual or have the kids try on dress up manners and go dressed.  A good experience.
