Chicago White Sox GM Kenny Williams happy at other teams interest in his pitchers
The Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams is pleased over the late comments on his players especially on pitchers and their enormous demand in Major League Baseball.
He was present at the MLB general managers’ meeting in Milwaukee and spoke to the media after having a long conversation with other teams’ GMs. Williams said, “You’d think we had a team out there that actually got in the playoffs from the interest people
are showing in our players, particularly our pitchers, Again, you don’t know what you’re ultimately going to get back until you draw some lines in the sand, and there’s no need for that now.”
Among many he particularly mentioned the New York Yankees GM including the Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers general managers who were interested to make a
deal with him in order to make their bullpen stronger for future seasons. Williams was very eager to say that certainly his pitchers are in demand and hopefully in the near future, he and the other White Sox management might go for trades.
However, on an important note, if the White Sox decide to make trades with only their pitchers, the financial outcome will be huge and can eventually benefit the franchise.
During the meeting with some reporters he was asked questions regarding Mark Buehrle and his free agency as well as his potential future plans. Williams did not comment on any of these questions but he did mention that Buehrle is a White Sox legend and will
remain a proud White Sox whether he plays for this franchise or not.
However these recent remarks of other GM’s in admiration of White Sox pitchers is great news in itself. If this admiration went further and resulted in some trades, the White Sox management will be more than happy to accept it to bring some financial stability
in the franchise. It will be interesting to see where Buehrle ends up and what impact he will have as a free-agent.
