Chicago White Sox GM Rick Hahn shows optimism ahead of next season – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn is showing optimism ahead of next Major League Baseball season.
He knows that the White Sox franchise has potential to become league champions. Hahn, a highly talented individual with a large managerial experience, was the right man for the White Sox.
The White Sox owners and current CEO wanted Hahn to come and see the franchise’s day-to-day affairs.
His presence surely will create some positive impact on the White Sox’s future results. He is currently taking some bold strategic steps which will give the White Sox’s entire roster a constructive focus to move forward into the new Major League season.
"We expect to contend in 2013, I certainly wouldn't go down that (rebuilding) path. At the same time, we are looking to build on our foundation for long-term success. There is a bit of a balance -- trying to win in the immediate future as well as having a club that we feel will be a playoff contender for years to come," Hahn said Wednesday and explained about the recent development regarding White Sox’s new strategic changes.
He added with more details, “The odds of signing an impending free agent decrease once they hit the open market, You don’t how aggressive other teams would be. Our chances would likely take a serious hit once he got out there.”
White Sox’s roster did not play well in this recent past Major League season and disappointed many with their poor performance.
Though at the start of the season, the White Sox showed their true offensive plays but as the season gets more open, the White Sox started to lose which proved disastrous as they could not even qualify for the post-season.
White Sox finished second behind the Detroit Tigers with 85-77 win-loss along with .525 winning percentage in American League Central.
The same terrible situation Cleveland Indians had to face but they were fortunate enough to recover from consistent defeats.
However, the White Sox needed more wins than just to recover from the bad patch but it did not happen and they failed to qualify for the playoffs.
