Chicago White Sox Hector Santiago aims donating money to a baseball facility – MLB News
Chicago White Sox’s starting pitcher Hector Santiago has some plans in the coming months. First of all he wants to play and start on Opening Day while secondly he is aiming for more of a human cause and planning to donate money to a baseball facility in
North Ward community of Newark, N.J.
He is planning to start his own foundation that will work for underprivileged kids to become professional baseball players. Santiago has recently explained in the media about his plans and how his new foundation will work for the benefit of the children.
He said, "Baseball there is falling apart. I want show those young guys back home you can do it. It doesn't matter where you're from. It's so cold you can't do anything outside. And the facilities back there are closing down. There aren't many people going
into (baseball).”
Santiago added, “All that hard work that I put in since I was a little kid and the last few years in the minor leagues, working year-round and pitching winter ball the past few years to improve on everything would make it all the worthwhile, I knew he was
a huge White Sox fan.”
Though he has been around in baseball circuit since 2006, but last year, for the first time, he was called to play in South Chicago’s baseball franchise. He did well and impressed the White Sox management who decided to call him again in this year’s Spring
Training.
On contrary to Santiago’s second season in the Major League, the White Sox are currently feeling pretty confident for his potential start. The White Sox management is thinking that if Santiago continued his great work, he will be providing some consistent
results to the team next season.
The White Sox new manager Robin Ventura has also appreciated Santiago and his game and giving the impression as he will be a key factor in White Sox’s consistency in the upcoming season. According to Ventura, the White Sox are still lacking in some areas
of pitching, but with Hector Santiago, the team somewhat knows as he will provide a key backup to stay consistent against top opponents next season.
