Chicago White Sox Jake Peavy's pitching efforts boosts confidence – MLB News
It looks as if Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy is working hard as he managed to get in a decent live pitching workout session on February 23, 2011 to prepare for the upcoming Spring Training.
Peavy is putting in a tremendous effort to get up to match fitness before Spring Training begins for the White Sox. The spring session allows for the teams to try out different rotations and get valuable playing time for their younger players before the
regular season starts.
Jake is working on recovering his previous pitching form as he recently had surgery on his shoulder. He understands the importance of working out and training extensively to get his pitching in top form before the White Sox face some of the top tier teams
in the league.
Peavy was satisfied with his performance during pitching workout session and said, “I just want to be healthy for the majority part of this season. If I’m healthy this whole season and throw 200 innings with the guys, it’s certainly something I want to do.
But if I don’t, I don’t see myself being that far behind.’’
The White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper is watching Peavy closely during the workout sessions and is satisfied that he is making a tremendous recovery and is not over doing it. Cooper said, “Now he is throwing the ball better. He probably went up a notch
in intensity. He certainly is doing what everybody else is doing.”
It seems that Peavy is working hard to quite possibly be the starting pitcher on Opening Day for the White Sox. However, it is still too early as the team still has to go through the entire Spring Training session.
The White Sox will be monitoring the progress of their star pitcher as they understand the importance he has in the team. Spring Training will give Peavy the perfect opportunity to get some good quality pitching time against some big hitters to evaluate
his accuracy and strength in his throws.
Peavy understands the importance that he holds for the White Sox, especially during the regular season. That is why he is currently working out with his live pitching sessions even before the spring session has started. His hard work and extreme dedication
to the team will certainly lift the White Sox this year during the regular season.
It will be interesting to see how effective Peavy will be during the spring session and the regular season as the White Sox look to getting off to a good start. Only time will tell if Peavy’s extensive training and hard work has paid off during game-time
as the White Sox keep their fingers crossed.
