Chicago White Sox: Regular season Results - MLB June 2011
After disappointing their fans with some average performances during the month of May 2011, Chicago White Sox were looking to restore some of their lost pride by achieving positive results on a regular basis. Upsetting Boston Red Sox in a three match series,
the White Sox displayed some high quality baseball against a very good team. Executing their game plan to perfection, Ozzie Guillen and his men emerged victorious in each encounter to get things back on track.
Outplaying the Red Sox 7-4 in game three of the series, Chicago also improved their win-loss record to 27-31. Paul Konerko homered for two runs in ninth inning to let his side win their seventh consecutive game at Boston Red Sox 99-year-old home.
"Playing three games here is not the same as playing in a lot of stadiums," Konerko said after the Red Sox waste a 3-0 lead after two innings. "There's an energy you get that you don't get other places. So that is a help if you use it right."
"The biggest (hit) to me was (Konerko's)," Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen said. "You really don't want to be up by (only) one in this ballpark against that ballclub because you never know what's going to happen."
The White Sox had a decent series against the inform Detroit Tigers. Although the White Sox lost the series, there were quite a few good individual performances by some of the players. Outshining the Tigers 6-4 in the opening game, the White Sox were looking
for their second series win of the month. However, as it turned out, they failed to put up a good show in the following two games and they let the opposition team secure two easy victories.
Raising the level of their game-play in the following series against Seattle Mariners, the White Sox adopted a more aggressive approach to win the first two games to clinch the series. Although they lost the final game, the White Sox seemed to be a much
better side with everybody in the team contributing towards the success.
Chicago continued to play their attacking game in a four match series against the Oakland Athletics, winning the series 3-1, which also improved their win-loss record to 33-35. It was a wonderful achievement by them considering they were 10-18 at the end
of April. Ending the month strongly, the White Sox claimed series victories over Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies to conclude a successful period of thirty days. The team worked hard during the month and came together
as a team to get some decent victories. The White Sox were looking to carry their winning momentum into the next month.
