Chicago White Sox: Regular season results – MLB April 2011
After having a disastrous time during the spring season, Chicago White Sox were hoping to restore some of their lost pride with some strong performances in the regular season. Looking to gain some momentum, the White Sox had a decent start to their regular
season campaign as they thrashed the Cleveland Indians 15-10 in the opening game of a three match series.
The debutant Adam Dunn homered and had four RBIs to help his side post a huge total on the board.
"It's about time, we were waiting for that for a month and a half already," Guillen said. "I think it's good for him. He's coming from a new team and a lot of expectations. All the people in Chicago expect him to do well, and this takes the monkey off his
back."
Chicago pitchers were also on target most of the times as they helped their side beat the Cleveland Indian to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The White Sox were right on the money in game two as well and they secured a comfortable 8-3 win to earn their first
series victory of the month.
Although the White Sox lost game three of the series, they seemed to be on the track to yield positive results from the season. The White Sox were upset in game one of their next three match series against the Kansas City Royals. The team did not show any
sign of nerves to clinch a nail biting 7-6 opening encounter over the White Sox. However, Chicago did not lose their focus and they bounced back brilliantly in game two to level the series at 1-all.
White Sox dominated almost all areas of the game in a four match series against the Tampa Bay Rays, winning three out of four games. Leading 2-1 in the series, they crushed the Rays 6-1 in final game to keep their impressive run going. Paul Konerko homered
twice in the first and fifth inning to give his side complete control of the situation in game four. Floyd struck-out eight and he allowed only four hits and one unearned run to restrict the opposition team to a very small total.
"He's aggressive, he throws strikes, his breaking ball was working," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He kept the ball down, that was key."
However, following their victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, the White Sox failed to give any considerable results, losing the series against Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles. Their poor form also damaged their win-loss
record to 10-18 by the end of April. The White Sox would look to improving their offence in the coming month.
