Chicago White Sox acquire Simon Castro and Pedro Hernandez from San Diego Padres – MLB News
In a gripping deal with San Diego Padres’ management, the Chicago White Sox have acquired two pitching prospects Simon Castro and Pedro Hernandez for the next several years and traded their out-fielder Carlos Quentin to strengthen their depth for next season.

The White Sox now have a great chance to test both pitchers’ overwhelming throwing skills which many hitters feared in 2011 during Minor League Baseball.
Both had an extraordinary season last year and acclaimed many wins for the Padres Minor League teams. As both played as Padres’ pitching prospects and never disappointed their Minor League teams performing at the highest level.
Castro, who played in Padres Minor League of class AA and AAA for six seasons, went with an exceptional 7-8 win-loss record along with 5.63 ERA in total 22 starts while Hernandez played a total of 28 games in which he had a 3.49 ERA along with a 10-3 win
loss record to prove his valour.
Being the more competitive one, Castro was also considered one of the best potentials available in the Minor League and that is the main reason why the White Sox top management decided to acquire him. Even the White Sox general manager Kenny Williams has
showed some great respect for his talent and compared his game with former White Sox ace pitcher Jose Contreras.  Williams said, “That’s behind him and I look forward to seeing him up close and in person.”
Some say, Kenny Williams is also the main architect of this deal, who convinced the Padres’ management in last month’s annual winter meeting and general manager’s meeting in Milwaukee. Later, he has also stated that both these players are now a great motivation
for our franchise.
Padres, who lost too many games last season, wanted to add a potential out-fielder and when the White Sox offered them a deal involving their out-fielder Carlos Quentin, they immediately agreed.
The White Sox might have traded another player but they had to send Quentin due to his poor performance in the 2011 Major League season. His shoulder injury restricted him from playing too many games and just allowed him to hit 20 homers in the entire season.
