Chicago White Sox beat Detroit Tigers 5-4 – MLB News
Chicago White Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-4 on Monday, September 17 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
Though both teams played well early in the game but the White Sox’s maintained their focus which proved helpful in the end.
White Sox entire rotation did well on the mound and never let the Tigers to take control of the game.
From starter to closing pitcher, the White Sox proved too good for the Tigers in every aspect of play.
White Sox hitters also did well and hammered the Tigers’ pitchers with great energy. Alex Rios and Gordon Beckham stood tall against the Tigers as they pushed their pitchers and never let them to dominate.
Beckham ran for an RBI and maintained his slugging percentage at .381.
Rios on the other hand, did most of the work as he scored one run and smashed two hits on his consistent .513 slugging percentage.
"That's a situation where every second baseman knows we're coming in hard. And it was a clean slide, and we took advantage of that, We scored two runs on that play and ended up winning the game, so it was a big play," Rios said later in the game and explained about his performance as he also told the media about his team who showed great temperament during the entire game.
Rios has also been playing a key role in the White Sox’s roster as his recent past performances won many games for the South Chicago side.
Later Beckham also commented in great detail and told the media regarding the chances ahead of getting top position in their respective Division. He also explained about his team’s overall performance in this particular game and said, "There is still a lot of time left for both teams. ... We just got to continue to grind and hope that what we do every day, day in and day out, is enough, This is probably still going to go down to the wire."
Tigers’ and White Sox currently are facing stiff competition to qualify as top team into the post season in their particular Division.
