Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski eyeing playoffs – MLB News
The Chicago White Sox talented catcher and veteran A.J. Pierzynski seems optimistic when he stated as his team will prevail in the next round with best possible results. Playing in Arizona in 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training, Pierzynski spoke assertively for his team and told the media regarding his believe on good results next season.
Pierzynski said, “I know once you’ve been there, you want to do it again. If you haven’t, you want to get there to know what the feeling is like. My motivation is always to get to the postseason. The ultimate goal is to play in the postseason and win a World Series.”
He added, “I understand what he was saying, and he and I talked about it, I get it. People don’t realize how hard it is to make the playoffs in baseball. In 2006, we won [90] games and didn’t make it. It was still a really good year.”
Pierzynski’s performance was satisfactory last season as he achieved hitting average of .287 along with eight home-runs, 48 RBIs and .323 OBP. While overall his career hitting average of .284 along with 128 home-runs, 653 RBIs and .324 OBP is also a good sign for the White Sox franchise.
A 14-year veteran and highly skilful player, Pierzynski certainly knows how his team can advance into the next stage of the competition. He also knows that last year, the White Sox performed well, but lost too many games from average opponents down the stretch in regular season.
However, this time around, the White Sox roster is looking in good spirits and training hard during Spring Training. Not only they are trying to start a good beginning, but they also want to play well during the training sessions. That will also give them the right kind of boost ahead of the regular season.
On contrary to Pierzynski’s recent statement in the media, some baseball experts also believe that the White Sox can achieve good results next season. Qualifying for the next round in 2012 season in one thing, but to perform well in the postseason is somewhat the guarantee to win the next World Series title.
