Chicago White Sox catcher A. J. Pierzynski feels distress due to baseless rumours
The Chicago White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski is feeling distress after rumours about his involvement in performance enhancing drugs (PED) and that Major League authorities are going to ban him for 50-games like Marlon Byrd, Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon.
“Apparently, certain people in the media -- they know who they are, I don’t have to mention them by name -- they just go ahead and run stories and talk about stories on their air without getting sources, It’s a shame because people that don’t do anything,” Pierzynski said about the rumours which directly involve him with PED issues.
He added with more detail and confidence, “But that’s the life we live and the world we live in and unfortunately it’s happened to other people and this time it happened to be on me. It’s over with now and hopefully people find something better we can talk about the White Sox instead of something that is completely baseless.”
White Sox catcher is currently having a great season with his tremendous form. He is playing with a.283 hitting percentage along with 25 homers and 72 RBIs and .328 of OBP.
His presence in the White Sox roster is imperative and if he gets a potential 50-game ban due to any kind of involvement with performance enhancing steroids, the Chicago side will suffer a huge blow which could damage their upcoming post season qualification chances.
Currently the White Sox are sitting quite comfortably at the top of the American League Central. Their 74-63 win-loss record and .540 winning percentage is by far a very good performance but if they want to maintain their current level, they will need Pierzynski’s services.
Meanwhile, the issue regarding Performance Enhancing Drugs and the involvement of many players in it is a certainly a debatable end while many experts do feel that now is the right time to take action.
The MLB itself is concerned with all these developments but overall it also the responsibility of players who must feel their duty for the love of the game.
