Chicago White Sox continuing their pursuit to sign Dayan Viciedo and Alejandro De Aza – MLB Update
Chicago White Sox still want to re-sign their two free agents Dayan Viciedo and Alejandro Aza for a bigger initiative of franchise’s interest. These two have last played for the White Sox in the recent past Major League Baseball season.
De Aza finished the 2012 MLB season on a high note achieving .281 hitting average along with nine homers, 50 RBIs and .349 OBP. He remained consistent throughout the season and played with an offensive approach.
Left fielder Viciedo also played well and went with .255 hitting average along with 25 homers, 78 RBIs and .300 OBP. He showed his true class and won many games for the White Sox. Since his arrival in the league, he has been quite consistent with his all round performance.
"The rules of baseball will more than dictate that because there are certain minimums they have to provide," said Scott Boras, Viciedo's agent. "It's one of those situations."
"We have that happen with a lot of draft picks, high-end draft picks as well. The minimums they are paid are much different than the norm of the minimum salary because of their contracts."
Now things are getting slight complicated for the White Sox as these two free agents are also garnering interest from many other Major League teams. However, the White Sox management seems optimistic to sign their two free agents with reasonable contracts.
The White Sox front office recently attended 2012 Major League Baseball’s annual Winter Meetings in Nashville as they hoped for a good new beginning with some of the experienced players who have played with them in the last very last season.
Along with Dayan Viciedo and Alejandro De Aza, the White Sox are also pursuing hard for third baseman Kevin Youkilis. Youkilis is also a free agent this offseason and looking for a potential new contract.
Earlier news came that he will be re-signing with White Sox, however this is still a speculation as other leading Major League teams are also showing interest to land him in their respective roster.
Meanwhile, next few weeks will be critical when White Sox will decide their final while Dayan Viciedo, Alejandro De Aza and Kevin Youkilis’ re-signings remain their top priority.
