Chicago White Sox crush Cleveland Indians 9-0 – MLB Recap
Chicago White Sox crushed the Cleveland Indians 9-0 in the third and final of their three match regular series encounter on Wednesday, October 3 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
White Sox took early lead and did not give any chance to their opponents to play freely. In response to nine runs, the Indians however, could not even score a single run.
Left fielder Dayan Viciedo led from front and scored four runs in total. He smashed three hits and ran for a single RBI on his four at-bats. He hammered the Indians' pitchers with strong determination and maintained his slugging percentage consistent at .444.
First baseman Dan Johnson batted five times and scored three runs and three hits along with exceptional five RBIs. He showed good temperament as he maintained his slugging percentage at .818.
"There's not much of a greater feeling for me than watching a ball going over the fence as you jog to first, When I hit my first one tonight, somebody said, `What is it about game 162 and you? To be honest, I wasn't thinking about that. When I went up in the ninth, A.J. (Pierzynski) told me that Longo hit three tonight. I was not going to let him show me up," said Johnson on his and the team’s performance.
Johnson added, "I always say, Play every at-bat like it is your last, I went out and gave it my best. I try to do that every day."
The White Sox pitchers also played well and outclassed the Indians in every area of play. Starter Gavin Floyd pitched seven innings and received three hits. He did not allow any run and struck-out six on his 4.29 ERA.
Relief pitcher Brian Omogrosso pitched 0.2 innings and allowed two hits without any run. He struck-out one while he remained consistent on 2.57 ERA.
Indians' pitchers on the other hand, made disastrous choices by pitching way-ward early in the game. They were hammered with big hits by the White Sox’s experienced batters as they could not save the game in the end.
